In August 2018, with great gratitude, we were awarded a grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust under it’s “There but not There” scheme and received ten fully-funded “Tommie” silhouettes for use in our displays and the culminating exhibition commemorating the Centenary of the Armistice, that opened in St Michael and All Angels on Friday 9th November until Friday 30th November 2018. The exhibition comprises 26 display boards, featuring a selection of our Fallen from every year of the War, including ten of the 27 Fallen of
1918. The project has enjoyed enormous support from many members of our congregation and other friends who responded magnificently to our appeal for knitted poppies for the decoration of the church for the Centenary, producing more than 500 of them. Our Armistice Choral Requiem Mass and Procession to, and Act of Remembrance at the Bedford Park Memorial Seat on Sunday 11th November was attended by a congregation of 350 – a very fitting conclusion to the four year commemoration. You can find full details here, and the church’s gallery of pictures here.
